Should One Take One’s Father’s Permission for Hajj?
Question
For the past few months I have been living in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I wrote a letter to my father that he should go for Hajj this year, and that I would help in whatever way I could. My father replied that he owes three thousand rupees and that until this is repaid it is impossible. I immediately wrote that I would pay off this debt, and that besides this I would also help with one or two thousand towards the Hajj. But my father gave no reply, although I learned that he had received my letter.
Answer
In view of the circumstances described, you may perform Hajj — indeed, do perform it; do not make it dependent on your father’s permission.
