Is there the sin of suicide in drinking poisoned palm wine?

Question

Zayd is in the habit of drinking some intoxicant (for example, palm wine). Once someone mixed poison into that palm wine and gave it to him; Zayd drank it and died. On whom, then, is the sin of suicide, and what is the ruling on this?

Answer

Despite this habitual sin, in the case asked about Zayd is not guilty of the sin of suicide — [ar]لعدم قصوره وعدم علمه[/ar] “because of the absence of any fault (qusur) on his part and because of his lack of knowledge.”
