The punishment for suicide

Question

If a person, for some reason, takes his own life (we seek refuge in Allah), will he suffer eternal punishment like the kafirs, or can it be hoped that he will at some point be saved?

Answer

If his end (khatima) was upon faith, there is hope of salvation; eternal punishment is for the kafirs.
