Boycotting a Muslim

Question

What is the ruling on Muslims boycotting one another without any Shar‘i excuse, and is expiation (kaffara) due from those who impose the boycott.

Answer

Muslims need to foster unity and friendly association among themselves. Boycotting without a Shar‘i reason is contrary to the teachings of Islam, and a severe warning has come about it in the noble hadith.
