The ruling on opposing the jama‘at of the biradari (a kinship or caste community)
Question
Is it obligatory according to the Shari‘a to sever allegiance (muwalat) with a group (jama‘at) that carelessly disregards the scholars of religion and some Shar‘i decision of theirs, creates division and discord among people, fabricates lies and makes accusations? And will one who remains a companion of this group even after these things have been proven be regarded as an opponent of God and His Messenger ﷺ or not?
Answer
A person or group who, without a Shar‘i reason, does not accept the decision of the scholars, creates disagreement and commits slander should first be made to understand the issue and its standing gently. If he desists and repents, that is better; otherwise, influential people should put pressure on him.
