The earnings of a wife who observes hijab

Question

The earnings of one’s wife, who observes hijab and is a teacher at an Urdu school — are such earnings permissible for the man?

Answer

If she gives lawful earnings willingly, it is permissible; but to have one’s eye on the wife’s earnings is contrary to self-respect (ghayra).
