Forcing one’s wife into prostitution for earnings

Question

A Muslim brought an adult non-Muslim woman into Islam and married her, and from that very day, against the woman’s will, he placed her in a brothel and, forcing her into the trade of selling her chastity, feeds himself from it, while he himself pursues no occupation. Eleven years have now passed in this way; he compels her and threatens her with the nikah. In such a case, is his nikah valid, or has it been annulled (faskh)?

Answer

In the case asked about, although the nikah has not been annulled, it is by no means permissible for the woman to obey this man. She should avoid this vile act in whatever way she can and adopt whatever measure she is able to in order to avoid this haram act. That man is a dayyuth (one who tolerates indecency in his wife); he is disgraced in religion and in the world.
