Kissing the feet of one’s spiritual guide or parents

Question

Question: What is the ruling on kissing the feet of one’s spiritual guide, parents or teacher out of love or respect, or greeting by touching them with the hand?

Answer

In kissing the feet, the form of a prostration (sajda) often arises; moreover, there is the fear that the beliefs of others will be corrupted — that they will go to excess (ghuluww) in veneration. Therefore caution lies in avoiding it.
