Replying to the salam of a kafir

Question

If a kafir sends a salam to Bakr through Zayd, what should Bakr say in reply?

Answer

He should say: [ar]وعليكم السلام وهداه الله الإسلام[/ar] “And upon you be peace, and may Allah guide him to Islam.”
