Kissing the hands and feet of scholars

Question

Question: Is it permissible to kiss the hands and feet of scholars and righteous people and to bow before them — is there no sin in it?

Answer

Out of respect for knowledge and piety, kissing the hands and feet is permitted. But it must not happen that it takes the form of a prostration (sajda) — that is not permitted. Bending down (bowing) has also been prohibited in the noble hadith.
