Uncovering one’s body before a doctor

Question

The command of hijab and of concealment from non-mahrams that Allah Most High gave in Juzʾ 18, Rukuʿ 10, Ayat 4 — does it contain any exception, in the state of illness and the like, for being unveiled before a non-mahram healer and placing one’s whole body at his disposal, or not? If some wife does such a thing, has she violated her husband’s honour or not, and in such a case does the husband have the right to call her to account or not?

Answer

If in a part of the body whose covering is fard there is some ailment — a wound or the like — such that treatment is not possible without uncovering it before the healer, then at the time of acute necessity it is permissible by the Shariʿa to uncover only that much of the body; uncovering more than that before a non-mahram is not permitted.
