Performing ghusl naked
Question
People of the Hanafi school here perform ghusl naked, and Shiʿa people come and say that nowhere in the Qurʾan and hadith is it written, “Perform ghusl naked,” and that if, after performing ghusl, one performs wudu while naked, the wudu is not valid, nor is the prayer.
Answer
Bathing naked in a secluded place is established from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and this hadith is in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. After ghusl there is no need for a separate wudu: [ar]كان النبي ﷺ لا يتوضأ بعد الغسل[/ar] “The Prophet ﷺ would not perform wudu after ghusl” (narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, al-Nasaʾi and Ibn Majah; Mishkat al-Masabih).
