What to do if the ʿawra becomes uncovered while farming or catching fish
Question
Apart from the ruling the Shari‘a has given on covering the ʿawra, and the occasions on which it has been stated that clothing or covering may be left off — at other times, for example when sowing in the field while the water is above the knee, one has to lift one’s clothing; or, for example, on the road it is waist-deep; or, for example, when catching fish, in which case one has to lift the clothing above the ʿawra — the work cannot be done without this. According to the Shari‘a, what should be done?
Answer
When the water is waist-deep, there is no harm in entering it without a waist-cloth. While walking along the road, while hunting and while farming, care should be taken that the part of the body whose covering is necessary does not become uncovered.
