A study on the beard

Question

Question: (a) Is there a command in the sacred and most pure Shari‘a concerning keeping the beard or not? Has it issued any rulings (about it) or not? Whether affirmative or negative, let both cases be firmly substantiated with Shari‘a proofs, so that no doubt or uncertainty of any kind remains for the general body of Muslims. (b) Also write: the hair of how much of the area is called the beard? It is extremely necessary that this research too be in the light of the noble Shari‘a. (c)

Answer

(a) Keeping the beard is wajib, and shaving it, or cutting it before it reaches one fistful (qabda), is impermissible.
