Women wearing a half-sleeved kurta (a long loose shirt)
Question
Question: It has become a fashion among women to wear a sleeveless shirt. Some women who pray have also adopted this practice: wearing a short blouse, which on account of the sleeveless shirt is tight and short, they cover the whole body with clothes and pray. The question is: is it permissible to wear a sleeveless shirt all the time or occasionally? And is the prayer valid in this way?
Answer
In prayer it is necessary to cover the whole body; only the face, both hands up to the wrists and both feet may be left uncovered (Shami). If the prayer is performed with a wrap put on over the half-sleeved shirt in such a way that the whole body remains covered, the prayer will be valid.
