Using wine in medicine
Question
Question: A Muslim physician, who calls himself skilled with regard to certain diseases, has wine — which is impure (najis) — used in medicine, and instructs that the prayer be performed in that very state with the wine poultice (dimad) on, without washing it off, saying: pray in this very state?
Answer
If the said physician states that there is no halal medicine for this disease and that the cure lies solely in wine, then the wine poultice is proper; and if washing it off would cause considerable harm, then praying without washing it off is valid: [ar]واختار في النهاية والخانية الجواز (التداوي بالمحرم)
