Ta‘ziya and the Standard

Question

Taking out the ta‘ziya (a replica of Imam Husayn’s tomb carried in Muharram processions) together with a standard in the month of Muharram, reciting mourning elegies with it, joining the procession, setting up a free drinks stand as a vow to Husayn, drinking from it and giving it to others to drink, and regarding this as a deed of reward — are all these acts permissible or impermissible? Kindly write the answer with reference to the Book and the Sunna, and be rewarded with Allah.

Answer

All these matters are bid‘a and impermissible, and they are the distinguishing mark (shi‘ar) of the Rafidis; taking part in them is impermissible. However, conveying reward to the deceased (isal al-thawab) without any invented restriction is correct.
