An Abominable Bid‘a of Muharram

Question

What is the ruling on fixing the Holy Qur’an to the ta‘ziya (a replica of Imam Husayn’s tomb carried in Muharram processions) in Muharram and carrying it around from street to street, where everyone — pure and impure, Hindu and Muslim alike — kisses it?

Answer

It is a grave sin and a disrespect to the Holy Qur’an.
