Interpreting the Respected Haji’s Qiyam in the “Haft Mas’ala” (“Seven Issues”)

Question

Zayd performs qiyam (standing) after the mawlid and cites the “Faysala-yi Haft Mas’ala” (“Decision on Seven Issues”): that the respected Haji Imdadullah ﵀ said it is mustahabb and a deed of reward, and also said: “I myself perform qiyam, and while performing qiyam I derive great pleasure.”

Answer

For the issues of fiqh there are four kinds of proof: the Book, the Sunna, ijma‘ and the qiyas of the mujtahids. If some saying or act is established from a chosen wali (saint of Allah) for which there is no proof from any of these four, then, out of good opinion (husn al-zann) of that wali, a good interpretation (mahmal hasan)
