Reciting a Khatm in the Mosque for the Awliya of Allah
Question
What is the ruling on reciting a khatm in the mosque for the awliya of Allah (the saints)?
Answer
A khatm that is established from the pious elders may be recited, and to recite a khatm and convey its reward to the elders is correct; but no one should be compelled to it — whoever wishes may take part, and whoever does not wish need not — and, moreover, nothing that is not established should be added to it on one’s own.
