Reciting Salawat After Prayer Facing a Picture of the Prophet’s Mosque
Question
And what is the ruling on reciting salawat after every prayer, turning towards the picture [of the Prophet’s Mosque] with hands folded?
Answer
This manner is not established by any legal (shar‘i) proof: it is neither in the Holy Qur’an nor in the noble Hadith; neither the noble Companions ﵃ adopted it, nor the muhaddithun, nor the mujtahid jurists. The salawat that is recited in the prayer is the best. Before the prayer or after it, whenever the heart desires and as much as one is granted the ability (tawfiq)
