Reciting Salawat Aloud After Fajr and ‘Asr

Question

In Kashmir people recite salawat after the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. Is reciting it thus correct or not?

Answer

The salawat that is recited in the prayer may correctly be recited after every prayer — Fajr, Zuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib and ‘Isha — and indeed at any time of the day or night. But when people are engaged in prayer it should be recited quietly, so that no one’s prayer is disturbed; otherwise it may also be recited in a low voice.
