The Kalima of Piran-e Pir (Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani) and the Procession
Question
On both Eids a silver panja (hand emblem) is mounted on the standards of Hazrat Muhyiddin Jilani ﵀, and to the beat of the daf [they chant]: [ar]هُوَ اللهُ لَا اللهُ هُوَ اللهُ لَا اللهُ مُحْيِي الدِّينِ جِيلَانِي[/ar] “He is Allah, no Allah, He is Allah, no Allah, Muhyiddin Jilani” — and a procession is taken out with a small kettledrum, a reed pipe, alwani (an item carried in the procession; meaning unclear), swords, skewers and spikes, in which there are neither the takbirs of tashriq nor dhikr.
Answer
This procession is polytheistic; taking part in it is haram, and it is a danger to one’s faith (iman).
