A Few Verses Concerning the Fadil of Bareilly
Question
One of the disciples of the “A‘la Hazrat” of Bareilly, Mawlana Ahmad Raza Khan, wrote: [ar]یہ دعا ہے یہ دعا ہے یہ دعا ٭ تیرا اور سب کا خدا احمد رضا[/ar] “This is the prayer, this is the prayer, this is the prayer: ٭ your God and everyone’s God, Ahmad Raza.” [ar]تری نسل پاک سے پیدا کرے ٭ کوئی ہم رتبہ تیرا، احمد رضا[/ar] “May He bring forth from your pure lineage ٭ someone of your own rank, Ahmad Raza.
Answer
I do not have the original book in which these three verses are recorded, nor is it known whose verses they are. To take the meaning of an utterance contrary to the circumstances of the speaker and to pass a ruling of the Sacred Law upon it — especially to issue a fatwa of shirk and kufr — is not worthy of the office of ifta; hence great prudence and caution are required.
