Is a Disobedient Person Also a Servant of Allah?

Question

I said to a certain person that one who does not acknowledge Allah and the Messenger is not a servant, but merely a creature; and Siraj al-Din says: “I do not accept this.”

Answer

All are servants of God: those who obey His command and those who do not. There is, however, certainly this much difference: those who obey the command are obedient, and those who do not obey the command are disobedient. But no one leaves the state of being a servant.
