The Belief That the Prophet ﷺ Is Hadir wa Nazir

Question

Zayd holds the belief that Allah has granted our master the Messenger of Allah ﷺ such power of disposal (tasarruf) that, by Allah’s leave, he may be present in the world wherever he wishes and whenever he wishes. On this basis Zayd, in answer to a question, said: “I hold the Most Holy Prophet ﷺ to be hadir wa nazir (present and watching).” Some people say that prayer behind Zayd is not permissible. What needs to be ascertained is: is Zayd a Muslim or not?

Answer

Allah ﷻ has granted His pure beloved, Hazrat the Messenger ﷺ, a station that no one else has received. Allah the Pure may convey the Prophet ﷺ wherever He wishes and whenever He wishes, and may inform him of whatever He wishes. However, in this respect “hadir wa nazir” does not become an attribute of the Prophet ﷺ.
