Predictions in Almanacs

Question

These small date-almanacs in which predictions are written — what is the status of looking at them and believing in them? What is the status of the one who makes them? And which pious elder did this? And will this ruling not apply to those who keep doing it?

Answer

Some of the things in them relate to calculation (not to the Sacred Law) — just as someone, looking at the railway timetable, may say that such-and-such train will arrive at such-and-such station at such-and-such an hour; and some things are only to attract the common people.
