Bestowed All-Encompassing Knowledge of the Unseen
Question
Some people say that wherever the Holy Qur’an negates knowledge of the unseen, it negates the essential (dhati) knowledge, not the bestowed (‘ata’i); the knowledge of the unseen of God the Exalted is essential, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has knowledge of the unseen given to him by Allah the Exalted, and the bestowal covers every single particle, so that he is watching and hearing our every movement and stillness. What is the ruling on one who holds such a belief? Is prayer behind him permissible?
Answer
This statement is without proof; nowhere in the texts [of the Qur’an and Sunna] is it explicitly stated. “Whoever makes a claim, upon him lies the burden of proof” (من ادعى فعليه البيان).
