Vowing a male goat in the name of Allah

Question

Question: We raised a she-goat, and we made a vow that if she gave a male kid, it would be in Allah’s name. So now, should we sell this male goat and give its price to a school, or put it into a mosque, or slaughter it and distribute it?

Answer

The male goat for which a vow was made to Allah may properly be given alive to some poor person as sadaqa; it is also proper to slaughter it and give the meat, raw or cooked, as sadaqa; let them give the skin to some poor person as well. At the time of the sacrifice (udhiya)
