The ruling on a sheep vowed as an offering
Question
Question: We ask the eminent muftis of the Shari‘a of the Chosen One ﷺ: must a vowed sheep (shat) or cow be of an age fit for sacrifice or not? If so, kindly grant a satisfying answer with the names of the books and specification of the pages, quoting the texts, and be blessed in both worlds.
Answer
If the vow of a sheep was made in the form of udhiya (the sacrifice of the Days of Sacrifice), i.e. the vow was made thus: “لله علي أن أضحي شاة” (“For Allah, it is upon me to sacrifice a sheep”), then all the conditions of udhiya must be present in it, because by such a vow the sacrifice of a sheep becomes wajib upon him. On the Days of Sacrifice (ayyam al-nahr)
