What are the conditions for an animal given in charity for the recovery of a sick person?

Question: What conditions apply to an animal given in charity (sadaqa) on behalf of a sick person and the like? Do all the conditions of a sacrificial animal, such as age and so on, apply to it as well?

Answer

If no vow (nadhr) was made in this regard, then he may give in charity any animal he wishes, whatever it may be. If, however, a vow was made, it has become wajib, and the same conditions are to be observed in it as for a sacrificial animal.
