Pectinase — is it halal?
Description
Pectinases (polygalacturonase, pectin lyase, pectinesterase) are enzymes that break down fruit pectin. Industrial preparations are microbial: the main producer is the mould Aspergillus niger, also Rhizopus, Trichoderma and others, including GM strains with Aspergillus gene donors; media compositions are redacted. Liquid Pectinex is based on glycerol (source not named) with potassium chloride.
