Distributing zakat money

Question

Should zakat money be distributed all at once, or over some period? Who is entitled to zakat?

Answer

It is permissible to distribute it all at once, and it is also valid to give little by little as needed; there is no restriction in this. However, to whomever one gives, one should give at least so much that he no longer needs to beg, and not so much that he becomes an owner of the nisab which he has no need to spend at present.
