Zakat to a brother and his children

Question

We are two paternal cousins and descendants of one paternal grandmother. Each of us two brothers has children separately, and this is our third generation. The children of one of us are in straitened circumstances, and the children of the other pay zakat. May they give the zakat money to those who are in straitened circumstances or not? Please inform us according to the Shari‘a.

Answer

It is valid to give zakat money to a brother and to a brother’s children when they are entitled to it.
