Giving food as zakat

Question

If someone, as zakat, gives a student food for two meals or for one, will his zakat be discharged or not? And is it necessary to calculate zakat once every year, or after doing it once is an estimate sufficient? And what is the zakat on property worth one hundred rupees?

Answer

If, for the amount of zakat that is wajib, one buys provisions, cooks food from them and gives it to some deserving student, the zakat will be discharged in that case too. If one's income keeps changing, going down and up, then it is necessary to calculate one's income every year.
