Taking employment in a government madrasa after studying Arabic
Question
Graduates of the Dar al-ʿUlum and Mazahir al-ʿUlum, after passing the “Fazil” (advanced theological) examination, are joining government Islamic madrasas, leaving the public madrasas because the salary is low. What is the blessed opinion of Hazrat Wala on this, given that the salary is so low that one cannot get by on it and fulfilling obligations is becoming difficult?
Answer
Religious knowledge is acquired in order to set one’s religion right, to serve the religion, and to please God. If, after acquiring it, people sit the “Fazil” or a similar examination, take employment in a government school and earn a higher salary, then the real purpose for which they stayed in the madrasa, took a stipend and studied will not be achieved.
