Taunting students for missing the congregational prayer
Question
If in a madrasa the teachers, the students and some small children who have not yet even reached maturity sometimes, for some reason, miss the congregational prayer, what is the ruling on taunting them for missing the jamaʿat with words such as: “These are the deputies of the Messenger, these are the guests of the Messenger, these very ones are the guests of the Messenger”? What is the ruling on using such phrases?
Answer
Taunting and sarcasm should not be directed at anyone — not at the teachers, not at the students, nor at anyone else. This is a very bad thing, and one has to suffer its consequences. Rather, encouragement should be given by way of advice and goodwill.
