The Imam Lying Down in the Mosque on a Rope Bed
Question
In a mosque where there is no room for the imam to live, may the imam there, in winter, summer and the rainy season, set up a rope bed and lie down in the mosque, or not?
Answer
This is contrary to the reverence due to the mosque and a cause of aversion for others. Nowadays setting up a bed in the mosque is regarded as disrespect to the mosque, and in such matters custom (ʿurf) must be taken into account.
