Announcements over the Mosque Microphone When Its Horn Speakers Are Fixed on the Minarets
Question
Question: The mosque’s microphone was bought with people’s donations, and the intention of those who bought it was that announcements would be made with it. The microphone is kept in a chamber of the mosque, and the horns (literally “flowers”) of its loudspeaker are on the minarets of the mosque. Is it permissible to make announcements?
Answer
If they wish to make any announcement other than the adhan, they should not make it in this place. For example, if some lost item is to be searched for, or news is to be given of some other matter that has no connection with the prayer and the mosque, they should do this outside the mosque; the microphone’s horns on the minaret should not be used for it.
