Acquiring a Microphone for Another Mosque When One Mosque’s Microphone Reaches the Whole Village
Question
Question: In a village there are several mosques, only one of which has a loudspeaker (microphone). When the adhan is given over the microphone, the sound reaches almost the entire village. Even so, the people of the mosque in another quarter want to bring in a microphone. Is this extravagance (israf) or not?
Answer
When the sound of the adhan from one mosque’s microphone reaches the entire village, and the prayer times are very close to one another, then installing a microphone in the other mosque is unnecessary, and the mosque’s money should not be spent on it.
