A Shelf in the Mosque Wall for the Qur’an and Religious Books

Question

In the mosque, in that very wall where the imam stands, is it permissible or not to fit a floorboard or something else in the nearby arched niches (mihrabs) and keep the noble Qur’an and other books there?

Answer

If the structure of the mosque is not harmed by this (the wall is not weakened), then keeping the Holy Qur’an and religious books there for study is permissible.
