Advertisements on the Iftar and Suhur Timetable
Question
Question: A person has an advertisement for the promotion of his shop printed in the lower part of the iftar and suhur timetable for blessed Ramadan, and puts this timetable up in the courtyard of the mosque or in some part of the mosque. Is this permissible or not?
Answer
If such a timetable is put up on the outer door and wall of the mosque, there is no harm in it, so that the times of iftar and suhur may be known from it and the shop may also be advertised. Editor’s note: The jurists have written that announcing a found item (luqata) is makruh, and have permitted it at the door of the mosque.
