Reading a Newspaper with Pictures in the Mosque

Question

What is the ruling on taking a newspaper that contains pictures into the mosque, and also on reading a newspaper in the mosque?

Answer

Keeping pictures of living beings is forbidden even in one’s own house, let alone in the mosque; therefore they should not be taken into the mosque. A newspaper generally contains all kinds of things — true and false, permissible and impermissible — so caution requires that it not be read in the mosque.
