Strolling About in the Mosque

Question

Those who recite a regular litany after the Fajr and ‘Asr prayers recite their litany while strolling back and forth inside the mosque. How is this act? Some scholars relate that the Prophet ﷺ would often take a stroll after the ‘Asr prayer, and Allah Most Pure did not approve of His dear Beloved strolling on this earth, and therefore granted him one of the gardens of Paradise so that “My Beloved may walk upon it” — as is in the Six Books (al-Sihah al-Sitta)

Answer

Strolling is not part of the litany. It is better and preferable to recite the litany sitting in one place in seclusion with concentration. If the time of the congregation is near and drowsiness is present, so that one thinks that sleep will come if one sits in one place waiting, or there is some other need of this kind, then there is no harm in strolling in the mosque.
