Praying in the Mosque Courtyard

Question

If the mosque courtyard is not considered to fall under the ruling of the mosque, will the obligatory prayers and tarawih be performed in it in congregation? Also, will the reward not be diminished by performing them here, and where does superiority lie?

Answer

In that case the reward of the mosque will not be obtained, and there will be a separate burden of sin for leaving the mosque unused. Performing the congregational prayer in the mosque is certainly superior.
