Respect for the Mosque Courtyard
Question
Part of the mosque courtyard, which lies within the bounds of the mosque, is without repair, plastering and the like; bricks, rubble and the like lie in that place, and because it is uneven the prayer is not regularly performed there. Is respect for it necessary in the same way as for the mosque courtyard? What is the ruling on taking shoes and the like there, or performing ghusl and the like there?
Answer
Land which has been declared a mosque is worthy of respect even though it has not been repaired; nothing should be done on it that is contrary to the etiquette of the mosque.
