Joint Fundraising in the Name of a Mosque and a Madrasa

Question

The people of a village want to build a mosque and a madrasa and wish to collect donations for them together. Is it permissible to do so? If the donations are collected together and the donor is told, "We want to build both a mosque and a madrasa", and the donor says, "Use it for either of the two", is it permissible to do so? Or should donations for the two be collected separately?

Answer

Collecting joint donations for both a mosque and a madrasa is correct. And when it has been announced that both will be built and people are donating for both, then what hesitation is there? If they wish to collect separately, that too is permitted.
