Use of the Mosque’s Belongings by the Imam and Muezzin

Question

May the imam or the muezzin use the mosque’s various belongings as needed, or not?

Answer

There are two kinds of things in a mosque. Things of the first kind are given by the people of the neighbourhood: if they permit the imam to use them in his chamber attached to the mosque, it is proper. Things of the second kind are bought for the mosque by its administrators: if they permit it, it is proper with their permission.
