Neighbourhood Residents Taking Water from the Mosque’s Tap

Question

In our mosque a tap has been installed, and the people of six houses of the neighbourhood use water from this tap for their own needs. Is there any sin in this?

Answer

It is proper for the people of the neighbourhood to take water from this tap, but they should use it carefully, and if it breaks down, they should also have it repaired. It should not be the case that the people of the neighbourhood draw the water while the repairs remain the mosque’s responsibility.
