Spending the Rent of the Shops and Houses of a Mosque and a Madrasa

Question

Here we have shops and houses belonging to a mosque and a madrasa. How should their income be spent? May the madrasa’s income be spent on the mosque and the mosque’s on the madrasa, or not?

Answer

It is correct according to the Shariʿa to give and spend the income of a shop or house owned by the mosque on the needs of the mosque, electric light and the salary of the mosque’s imam. The money of a shop or house owned by the madrasa should not be spent elsewhere: do not spend the madrasa’s money on the mosque, and likewise do not spend the mosque’s money on the madrasa.
